Georgios (Yiorgios) Podaropoulos is a Doctoral Research Fellow - English Language Literature at the University of Oslo. He visited CETAPS and spent two days (13 and 14 of April) with us, sharing his exciting PhD research and interests and exploring our projects. After the visit, we asked him to write a short text on his visit. He kindly obliged and we are happy to share it here:
I have just finished my research visit to CETAPS, and that is a warmest thank you for hosting me. First, many thanks to Professor Fátima for her invitation, warm hospitality, and stimulating conversations. I cherish the roundtables we held with the members of the Digital Lab, through which I was initiated into the wonderful universe of CETAPS, its interdisciplinary history, ongoing projects, and research agenda.
Professors Fátima and Luciano, Bruno, Liam, Carolina, Jamie, and Matilde: your work is truly fascinating, and I felt honoured to get a glimpse of it. I am also particularly thankful for the opportunity to present my work on utopianism and receive invaluable feedback. The game session you organised was both very fun and deeply thought-provoking. It was a real privilege to play Horizon with some of its creators. I was also able to present my own game-related ideas and receive meticulous feedback too. Bruno, your guidance was precious, and here’s to more game sessions to come.
Finally, I was warmly welcomed in the classes of Professor Luciano. The Digital Humanities course challenged many of my disciplinary assumptions and made me even more curious about computational linguistics and literary studies. None of this would have been possible without the coordination of Professor Miguel Ramalhete Gomes, to whom I am deeply grateful.
Até à próxima !
