The JRAAS team and the Digital Lab are presenting their latest film cycle, entitled “Thalassologia: The Blue Humanities in Film”.
As the title suggests, the thematic line of this cycle will be linked to the Blue Humanities, the field of Humanities that studies the relationship between human beings and their culture and water. Specifically, this cycle will look at representations of the oceans and maritime exploration/research in Seventh Art.
The first session will be dedicated to the film Nyad (2023), directed by Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhely, based on the true story of Diana Nyad, an athlete who wanted to swim across open water from Cuba to the Floridian coast.
The session will be held at Casa Comum on November 11 at 18:00, and entry is free!
