The second film in the JRAAS Cinema Cycle 'Thalassologia: The Blue Humanities in Film' was James Cameron's "The Abyss". The story follows a diving team sent to search for a lost nuclear submarine, while they face dangers, they also make a remarkable discovery: an advanced aquatic alien species living deep beneath the ocean's surface. With a foreword by Professor Luciano Moreira (FLUP), we explored the film's representation of the ocean as place of mystery and discovery. 

The screening will take place at Planetário - Porto, Sunday, November 24th, at 3pm.
