We are excited to announce an open call for contributions to the upcoming Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in Utopian Studies. This self-paced, free course will be hosted on the NAU platform, developed and managed by the FCCN Unit of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), and coordinated by CETAPS.
We aim to create a course that serves both newcomers to Utopian Studies and those with prior knowledge, looking to refresh or deepen their expertise.
By contributing, you’ll join a global team of scholars engaged in Utopian Studies. This is a unique opportunity to share your expertise with an international community of learners. The MOOC will reflect the multidisciplinary nature of the field, and we encourage contributors to develop content that is lasting, reusable, and that pushes beyond traditional academic boundaries. You’ll also have the freedom to propose original topics and shape modules that reflect diverse perspectives.
Each contributor will be invited to design a short, focused video lecture on a topic of their choice within the field of Utopian Studies. Your contribution may draw from historical, literary, philosophical, or interdisciplinary approaches to utopian thought, offering learners a concise yet insightful perspective.
How to contribute:
Please send the following information to: digitallab@letras.up.pt
• The topic you propose, with a brief description (max. 200 words)
• A short bio (max. 100 words)
• Three learning objectives
• A bibliography with 5 key references
Once the contributions are selected, our Coordination Team will contact you for the video production stage. It will be simple — you may record the video using a smartphone or laptop, in your native language. We will later add English subtitles and send you the final version for approval. A certificate of participation will be issued to all contributors.
Please submit your materials by September 30, 2025.
Thank you for your interest and contributions!
